  • “How cute is my dad?! He was considered too young to be housed with the bigger boys, so he was king of the castle at Newstead. ”

  • “I would love to get in touch with someone who was at Newstead during the years from1948-1955 when I was there.
I am sorry I missed the gathering in Scotland this last spring and wonder who was there? I went back for the first time last January after almost 60 years! The wonderful old tree is still in the front garden-a tree I used to climb. It was a beautiful day and brought back many memories. Thank you. Jennifer. ”

  • “Jennifer, I was the boy in the photograph, one of three of whom I am aware attended Newstead. One of the others , Geoffrey Plumridge, had a sister there who might have been a contemporary of yours. Fond memories of the three of us being reunited at Abby's retirement Party!”

  • “Hi Stuart
I can vouch for there being three boys at Newstead - you, Geoffrey and ? David Simpson? I think. (Where did a Matthew fit in?) I remember being in one of the turret rooms and two of the boys being in the other room. We were being quarantined because of having some unwanted contagion.
Thank you to Kirstie for posting the photograph. I/we have no such photo; this one shows my two sisters and me. ”

  • “Anne, your memory indeed serves you correctly. The third was indeed David Simpson.”
